Arizona Region_about willow creek and watson lake reservoirs

Arizona willow creek and watson lake reservoirs are among interesting regions for especially Geophysicists...

This formations are expressing as longterm weathering of natural cracks in Granite.Cracks are calling as joints or planar fractures.Originated during the cooling and stressing of a deeply buried molten mass called a batholith.

Several nearby boulders are cube shaped because of typical right-angle joint intersections in the Granite.

These precariously perched boulders have resisted Earthquakes for thousands of years,but weatheting will eventually cause them to fall.

Geologists estimate by measuring radioactive decay,that the granite here is about 1.4 billion years old.The rocks at Granite Mountain,seen in the distance are into different composition than the Dells Granite and probably represent an "Older Batholithic Intrusion". These granites have been exposed for several million years,a short period in geologic time.

Some geology photos about region;

Also,a satellite presentation at willow creek reservoir which as quite mysterious.What is your idea about aim of this structure?
