  The seismic activity continues to be elevated. The IGEPN geophysical institute recorded  a volcano-tectonic earthquake in the area of Potrerillos-Chalpatán with magnitude M 5.2 , located about 15 km SE of the Chiles-Cerro Negro volcanic complex. Since the event, 572 quakes in the Potrerillos-Chalpatán area were registered with magnitudes in the range of M 0.5-4.2 at less than 10 km depth and 376 quakes in the Chiles-Cerro Negro area.
