Selective Activity News Shiveluch Volcano

A powerful eruption took place from the volcano's active lava dome at 20:48 local time yesterday.

The explosion generated a tall and dense ash column that rose up to 27,000 ft (8,200 m) altitude (reported by the VAAC Tokyo; the KVERT observatory informed about 22,960 ft/7 km) and drifted about 10 km east of the volcano.
Detected glow within the lava dome and strong fumarolic activity suggest continuing rise of fresh viscous magma at a very steady flow rate. This can be seen as incandescence of the lava dome, with explosions and hot avalanches accompanying this process.
