Krakatau volcano (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): summit crater with glowing steam and ash during eruption

The volcano continues to be active characterized by intense vulcanian-type explosions.

Two eruptions occurred from its crater in the early morning at 04:36 local time and 14:51 local time today.
An incandescent was being visible in the crater area during the night explosion, generating a black, dense ash column sending emissions to 1,1 km altitude.
The afternoon powerful eruption sent ash up to 2,200 m altitude spreading northward.
The PVMBG volcano observatory reported seismic signals with both maximum amplitudes of 60 mm and a duration of 77 and 116 seconds.
