The explosive eruption at the volcano continues.

On 23 September, a vigorous eruption from the Minamidake summit crater triggered a pyroclastic flow.
The pumice-and-ash flow (Soufrière type current), caused by the eruption column collapse, lifted billowing grey-to-black ash plumes as it descended the slope and formed common phenomena, so-called phoenix clouds.
Spewed eruption plume reached to estimated 10,000 ft (3,048 m) height.
The seismic station recorded two volcano-tectonic earthquakes on 23 September.
Visible night-time glow within the summit crater suggests continued rise of fresh magma inside the volcano's conduits.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 2 km distance from the Minamidake crater.
