Sakurajima Selective Activity News

The explosive activity continues from the Minamidake Crater at irregular, sporadic levels.

The volcano generated a sudden, quite strong explosion in the late afternoon yesterday.
A dense dark ash plume rose to estimated 1,800 m height and drifted southeast. Lava bombs were ejected as far as 800-1000 m away from the crater.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 2 km distance from the main crater.
