 After the last sudden large explosion on 13 May, another major event occurred at the volcano today.

The intense eruption took place at 14:11 local time from several vents in the Central-South crater area, sending lapilli and lava bombs to the crater terrace and Pizzo. An ash plume drifted south.
The seismic instruments detected a total duration of about 2 minutes.s
The INGV observatory reported that the volcano returned to the normal activity at 19:53 local time.
