A spectacular explosion occurred at the volcano on 22 June.

The eruption generated an abundant grey ash plume, which rose to an altitude of 7,000 ft (2,200 m) and drifted east.
Based on the elevated activity of the volcano, authorities rasied the alert level for the volcano from Level 2 to Level 3.
