A strong pyroclastic flow occurred from the South-East Crater this morning.
The reason for this flow was (likely) the sudden accumulation and destabilization of the northern flank of the crater area, which in turn developed into very dangerous pyroclastic flow. The block-and-ash flow seems not to exceeded the Valle del Leone caldera rim.
The event generated ash-rich plumes separating from the pyroclastic density current known as phoenix clouds.
The eruptive activity transited into fountaining period.
The seismic instrument registered very high levels of volcanic tremor, located in the South-East Crater area.
