Popocatepetl News

The explosive activity at the volcano continues.

At about 09:30 local time yesterday morning, an above-average eruption took place from the summit vent triggering an increasingly larger rising thick grey ash column. The pyroclastic material (tephra) was being released to estimated 20,000 ft (6,100 m) that extended towards the SW of the volcano.
The seismic station monitored 153 minutes of volcano-tectonic tremor over the past 24 hours.
In addition, 317 emissions of water vapor, gases and ash were detected.
Such manner is nothing unusual on the volcano and occurs from time to time, roughly every two weeks to a month.
Nevertheless, the Volcanic Alert Level remains at Yellow.
