The activity of the volcano continues at fluctuating values since January 2022.

The Pusat Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi (PVMBG) volcano observatory detected about 146 volcano-tectonic earthquakes since 29 September, but without any visual elevated activity. This may hint an increasing pressure from the hydrothermal system and/or magma inside the volcano's edifice.
However, the alert status remains at Level 1.
In order to avoid the potential danger of volcanic gases or sudden phreatic explosion, people and tourists are not allowed to approach the main crater from close proximity.
