A new ash eruption occurred at the volcano yesterday.

The volcano has been a bit calmer for over more than 1 year with either only venting or no activity as the last series of explosions were observed in August last year.
The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Tokyo detected an ash column from the volcano that rose to an altitude of 6,000 ft (1,800 m). Dense ash emissions continued most of the day and the following day (2nd October).
From an available satellite image from Sentinel-2, a heat anomaly dominates within the summit crater.
