Selective Devs Sangay Volcano

The Instituto Geofísico observatory alerted about a tall ash plume this morning rising from the summit crater and sent pyroclastic ejecta to approx. 8,500 m height. The increasingly large plume was seen from the GOES-16 satellite at about 10:00 UTC. Ash and lapilli fall was reported in the provinces of Chimborazo and Bolivar.
The warning bulletin states that lahars (mud flows) could also occur if heavy rainfalls remobilise the fresh ash deposits.
