Popocatepetl News

The activity at the volcano remains stable with frequent ash emissions of low to moderate size referred to as "exhalations" (as opposed to more vigorous explosions) by the monitoring institute CENAPRED.
The stronger ash emissions are similar to explosions and generate plumes that rise 1-2 km above the volcano's summit.
During the latest 24 hours since yesterday, 56 emissions were registered along with 64 minutes of low-intensity volcanic tremor. The previous day saw 77 emissions and 99 minutes of tremor.
Weak night-time glow from the summit crater indicates that magma continues to arrive to the slowly growing dome inside. The recorded seismic tremor is likely caused by the slow rise of magma in the conduits.
